Quicker than a mobile app and more versatile as you can change things quicker than using an app. I recommend using a pencil with a rubber just in case.

Got this plan to record all aspects of gym attendance and hopeful weight loss. It is set out well and important details like weigh, goals and starting measurements all included. The section for recording activity are clear and well set out. All necessary fields for exercise, weights and reps are tidily set out. I find I transfer records from my phone health app to the book once home but keep it by me to record any variations of exercises done during a session. It is good to see the effort in hard copy which supplements my phone record. I find it quite therapeutic and rewarding filling in the data post gym and will continue to use through the year. Whilst not an invaluable tool, ( most gym apps record this data real time) I do think a physical easy to read record is useful to me.

I really like this log, there are lots of pages you can fill out so it should keep even the biggest gym buff busy for a while. The actual workout pages are laid out well with enough information on them for you to write down everything you need to do in your workout. The only trouble I have found is the weights and reps boxes are a little small so people with larger hand writing or requiring 3 digits (decimals or hundreds) it can get a little bit of a squeeze. There are a few additional pages at the start and end for your personal details, training goals and progress pages which is a nice addition. Although most reviews have used this as a solely strength training log I have customized it slightly so I can actually log a HIIT workout. As each activity was the same ‘time’ I didn’t fill anything out for the reps but you could fill it out and enter a key in the note section if you wanted to. This also means the log can be multi-purpose training for people doing pure cardio / strength combined. See image for further info. Would have been 5 stars if the boxes were slightly bigger. Possibly could benefit with a conversion from lbs to kg and inches to cm for the progress as although you can pick your own unit in the book some gyms have different weights and measurement unit may differ when being checked by a specialist. Might also be nice to have a few more motivational quotes or hints/tricks dotted around.

The planner is sleek and has many visible options for you to choose from. I chose the green one because Green.. but all options are lovely. There is many pages and a lovely page layout for you to provide context to your workouts and write any notes you need to remind yourself of for the next session.

There isn't anything which I can criticise about this little book. The first page has a section for training goals, and the last few pages make it possible to track progress - weight, body fat, measurements etc. In between are many clear, well designed and attractive pages. This book has everything you need - with room for specific exercises, cardio types and notes (each day). A nice touch is the section for rest intervals and tempo. I am very much looking forward to using this in my training. Yes, you can purchase various cheaper alternatives across the web BUT I have found these are not as sturdy, do not have enough room to track exercises, and the general quality is not as good as this workout log. The cover is sturdy and the pages are not flimsy. Moving forwards, I would love to see a greater range of designs :-) It is clear that a great deal of time and effort has been spent planning this log, and I am glad to be supporting a small business.
