I received my Veikk A30 tablet this week, delivery was extremely fast (and free for Amazon Prime members!). The box design had me excited from the get go, tells you what you need to know in terms of report rate speed (250 RPS), Lines per inch (5080 LPI), levels of pressure sensitivity (8192) and size 10”x6” all of which are particularly impressive given the low price of the tablet. On opening the box, all components were well packaged with the tablet itself on immediate view with the accessories tidily stored underneath. You get; • A30 tablet • Battery free stylus pen with two hot key buttons • Type C USB adaptor cable • Nib replacement tool with spare nibs • Quick start guide Handling the tablet it feels light, looks extremely sleek and barely thicker than my smart phone. I was thrilled to find that it fit comfortably inside one of my padded laptop bag compartments although I can see the benefit of buying a tablet pouch to protect it rather than leave it on my desk inbetween uses. Setup was surprisingly straightforward and devoid of some of the language issues I’ve encountered when installing other Chinese gadgets. The tablet is powered via the USB cable so no need to charge it for first time use and plugging it into my Windows 10 laptop launched the setup utility. After a reboot, the utility launched on startup to enable me to set the hot key settings. Even though by default the stylus is set to work as a pen rather than a mouse, hovering the stylus over the tablet, without making contact gained immediate control of the mouse cursor. By default the primary stylus hot key was set to right mouse click but this was quickly changed to left mouse click whilst I configured the tablet and got used to using the stylus. The position of the stylus hotkeys and moving the cursor when hovering above the tablet takes a bit of getting used to but very quickly I stopped looking at the tablet and was navigating the software just from looking at my screen. In addition to the two hot keys on the stylus, there are an additional 4 hot keys on the tablet that you can tailor to input your most frequently used settings in your sketching software. Within 10 minutes of opening the box, I was already using the stylus to sketch directly into photoshop. If I had one criticism, the stylus feels a little light and could do with being heavier but that’s probably a personal preference. I would also love to see a stylus holder mounted on the tablet itself, I can see myself spending time hunting for this in future! I want to spend a few weeks using the tool in earnest and complete a full drawing project before I can really comment on how the tablet has helped my creative process but on first impressions the VEIKK A30 appears to be a well designed quality product, simple to use with very good performance specs for an amazing price. I received this tablet the day after ordering it, with free shipping which is great (I’m an Amazon prime member). The box looked nice and everything was well packed. As for tablet itself, it’s made of a sleek smooth plastic, it’s thin and lightweight but feels solid at the same time. It has a glossy looking touch panel on the left side and is quite big to be honest. The pen feels good in hand, but for me it is a bit to lightweight (but it’s a matter of preferences I suppose). Overall the build quality of this set makes a very good impression. Drivers installation and setup was trivial (the most important thing for me was that I didn’t have to uninstall my pen display drivers) and I was ready to go in around 2-3 minutes with one restart (you need to download drivers - there are no drivers in the box just information about where you can get them). I had concerns about working with a tablet without a screen, but after a few minutes my brain get used to it and I was able to work without any problems. The pen moves smoothly over the tablet surface and touch panel with it’s four touch buttons proving a real time saver (although you don’t have any touch feedback from the touch panel so you don’t know where the buttons are unless you look at it). After a few hours working with this tablet I can say that it’s doing the job. The only thing I missed was a glove (my hand tends to stick to the working surface) other than that everything is working as intended and there is really nothing to complain about. After this couple of days all I can say is that the tablet is solid and completely meeting my expectations. It’s hard to find another tablet as good as this one at this price tag.

Arriving in a modern package is the Tablet, pen, a tool for changing the pens nib, spare nibs, a USB C to USB cable and a quick start guide. Everything was of a high build quality and downloading the software was painless enough. Setup was fantastically easy all the way through. Plugging in the A30 and waiting for Windows10 to sort out the drivers meant that the only reason to go to the Veikk website was to download the proprietary software. It's worth doing this step though as it does allow the extra features to really work wonders. A graphics tablet essentially works like a mouse but with the added ability to detect the pen pressure, essentially acting as a click for various pressures. The pen with the A30 has a right click button and a third click button, both can be assigned different functions using the software. Once you fire up a compatible painting program it works incredibly well. You can easily dab, light strokes and stronger marks with ease. With Clip Studio the default option for these buttons are access to the colour picker and to switch between pen and eraser. It's fantastic for a beginner and I found myself barely needing to tinker with any settings to feel comfortable drawing, painting or colouring away. The A30 has a panel on the left (or right if you flip it) side that has numerous touch buttons and a square touch panel that reads motions. What this means in practice is that you can easily zoom into your artwork, hold a button to drag and use the pen all in tandem. The tablet only detects the pen pressure on the drawing area and touch pressure on the smooth button and motion area. It doesn't detect your hand so you can rest it easily while applying different pressures with the pen. What more is there to say? It does what it says on the box. The pen is an interesting accessory when used with a PC. It doesn't require batteries and there was no way to charge it but it does have the ability to change the nib and you pull it open without too much grief. All in all the A30 is surprisingly versatile with Windows10 and I found I could easily play Civilization 6 and switch music tracks or shift around the screen apps. There was a couple of issues with some apps that aren't designed for a graphics tablet so you will still need a mouse and keyboard, albeit very rarely. The A30 graphics tablet is exactly what it says it is. A really well made, functional graphics tablet that allows you to make your sketches on the screen with minimal fuss. It's a little strange the pen has functionality with no charge or batteries but it's worked flawlessly for the time I've spent using it. If you want to pick up a tablet and get creative, the A30 is a great one to get.

The media could not be loaded. Tableta: La tableta viene en una caja pequeña, compacta, muy ligera y con un diseño sencillo pero muy agradable a la vista. Esta tableta es una opción estupenda para llevarla durante algún viaje porque la caja es fácil de transportar y tiene el espacio suficiente para la tableta, el lápiz, una guía rápida para usarla y las puntas de recambio con su herramienta para cambiarla. Dentro de la caja encontramos la tableta dentro de un plástico duro para protegerla y un cartón que guarda todos los demás elementos. Un detalle que me ha parecido curioso es que el cable USB viene ya integrado, así que no será necesario conectarlo y desconectarlo de ella cada vez que la queramos usar. El cable USB tiene una longitud bastante buena y me sorprende y agrada a la vez, ya que las tabletas pequeñas que yo he visto suelen tener la longitud muy justa y apenas puedes moverlas del sitio, cosa que no es el caso de los productos de Veikk por lo que puedo comprobar. Justo debajo del cartón, encontramos el lápiz de Veikk dentro de su característico estuche de fieltro, una guía rápida para conocer los elementos y cómo conectarla a nuestro ordenador, una bolsita con 8 puntas de recambio y la herramienta para cambiar la punta de nuestro lápiz, además de un trozo de cartón en forma de disco que nos muestra donde descargar los drivers y nos agradece nuestra compra. Esta tableta tiene una superficie súper suave y capta el trazo con muy poca presión que se haga con el lápiz. El diseño es muy simple, bonito y sencillo. Además, nos trae unas marcas en la superficie que nos indican el área activa de esta tableta. Es muy básica, tiene el área activa y una pequeña luz que nos indica que está conectada y la estamos usando. Es cierto que no trae atajos, pero no lo veo un problema, ya que hay gente que no los usa o no le gustan y prefieren tener un poco más de espacio para usarla. Si le damos la vuelta, podemos encontrar que en las esquinas tiene unos protectores en forma de "L" muy finos pero que protegen la tableta de un contacto directo con la mesa. Me gusta mucho ese tipo de detalles porque siempre me parece que protege mucho el reverso de la tableta. Tengo que decir que el lápiz es precioso. Es ligero, no usa batería, tiene un diseño muy moderno que a mi me encanta y tiene 2 botones. El primero está configurado para cambiar entre la goma de borrar y el lápiz, por lo que puedes borrar directamente presionando una vez el botón. El segundo responde como el clic derecho del ratón, pero se pueden cambiar si se quiere usar otra configuración. Este lápiz no tiene función de borrar con la parte superior. La punta del lápiz hace una acción de pulsar y está siempre moviéndose, lo que facilita su uso y no araña la superficie. Trae un estuche de fieltro para guardar el lápiz y me parece una opción perfecta porque otras tabletas no traen un estuche, sino una pequeña banda en la tableta o ni siquiera eso. Para tener el lápiz localizado, resguardado y no perderlo, es genial. Este lápiz viene con 8 puntas de recambio y el accesorio para poder cambiar las puntas. Teniendo en cuenta que apenas hay que apretar, creo que 8 puntas son más que suficientes para toda la vida que pueda tener la tableta. Si eres de esas personas que gasta mucho la punta por el motivo que sea, puedes comprar los recambios que te traer 10 puntas y casi que sale a 1 euro por punta, mucho más económico que otras marcas. Drivers: Drivers sencillos y de fácil instalación. Veikk tiene una ventaja increíble con los drivers, y es que los comparte con otros modelos de sus tabletas. Es decir que, si ya posees una tableta de esta marca, no será necesario que instales los drivers de nuevo ya que, con solo conectarla al ordenador detectará que es el modelo S640 y podrás usarla sin ningún problema ni conflicto. En los drivers de la página web se especifican los modelos que lo comparten. Si es la primera tableta que tienes de Veikk, asegúrate de descargar y seguir el manual de instrucciones o la guía rápida que trae la tableta para instalarla. Además, reinicia el equipo para terminar el proceso y evitar errores. Si ya posees otro producto de la empresa, simplemente conecta tu tableta y personaliza la sensibilidad a tu gusto disfrutando de la compatibilidad que ofrece. Funcionamiento: Acomodé la dureza de la tableta porque me siento más cómoda que con la de fábrica y en este caso me ahorré el tema de los atajos ya que no tiene, así que se configura con mucha rapidez. Voy a estar probando como funcionan algunos programas de dibujo que uso y valorar su uso principal que es jugar al juego de ritmo Osu!. Veremos Osu!, Paint Tool Sai V1 (lo uso a diario para dibujar), Paint Tool Sai V2 y Photoshop CC 2018 (lo uso para detalles finales y fondo, pero me estoy animando cada vez más a intentar usarlo para dibujar). - Osu!: He estado probando el juego y la verdad que es bastante cómodo jugar con la tableta. No soy una experta y es la primera vez que juego, pero me ha resultado sencillo jugar usando esta tableta. Seguramente una persona que sepa jugar y tenga más experiencia que yo, le sacará muchísimo más partido y podrá disfrutarla más. - Paint Tool Sai V1: Funciona a la perfección. Capta el estabilizador del programa, el cursor sigue perfectamente el lápiz y todas las herramientas funcionan sin problemas. - Paint Tool Sai V2: Me gustaría ahorraros problemas, así que os voy a explicar una cosa fundamental que tenéis que hacer para que la tableta os funcione correctamente. Simplemente vais a vuestro programa, abrís el desplegable Ayuda (Help) y seleccionáis Opciones (Options). Ahí vais a marcar la casilla Usar TabletPC Apo en lugar de WinTab API (Use TabletPC Apo instead of WinTab API). Después de eso cerráis y volvéis a abrir el programa e irá perfectamente. Funciona perfectamente y es igual que la versión 1 pero con más herramientas nuevas. - Photoshop CC 2018: Capta la tableta perfectamente. Los productos de Veikk funcionan de maravilla en Photoshop. Sigue el cursor estupendamente, el auto estabilizador funciona bien, no afecta al funcionamiento de los pinceles y es cómodo y fácil de usar. Conclusión: La calidad precio es maravillosa y su función principal que es dar comodidad para jugar a Osu! no decepciona. No he jugado nunca a este juego y lo he probado porque la tableta se anuncia como una sustitución del ratón para este juego y es cierto. No puedo tener mucha opinión porque no soy jugadora usual de este juego, pero he de decir que con la tableta se hace cómodo incluso si es la primera vez que juegas. Creo que es un buen producto para jugar además de usarla para dibujar que, en mi caso, sería el uso que le daría. Respecto al tema artístico, para principiantes creo que es la opción perfecta, ya que al no tener atajos te puedes centrar más en aprender a usar el lápiz y comenzar a acostumbrarte con los del teclado para aprender a coger la postura de trabajo. Yo la he probado en Windows 10, en un sobremesa y va perfecta. Bastante económica, buenos materiales, lápiz sin carga, ligero y con un diseño moderno y muy bonito. Es pequeña, no pesa nada y tiene una apariencia bonita y simple. Incluye un modo para zurdos que proporciona comodidad a la hora de usarla si lo eres. Es perfecta para llevarla de viaje en su caja bien guardada y con todos sus elementos para jugar o dibujar donde quieras con tu portátil.
