It's early days yet as I'm only on chapter 1, but seems like an easy read with practical examples. I would recommend this to anyone starting out.

This goes at a good pace, the language is simple to make it easy to understand at any level. The examples are complete and concise whilst the test yourself sections are good to prove to yourself that you are getting it. Better than other books as whilst you won't complete the whole book in a week, there is the extra that will take your programming through OO and on to the extra resources such as pygame. Good book and worthy of a place on your desk.

I love this book. As a Computer Science teacher, I am always looking for different approaches to help students learn the language. This is clear & concise. Starts at the basics but goes right through to really complex aspects. The explanations are easy to follow if you are a beginner with Python (although I would say some programing experience would help). I will us it to support my Alevel students, increasing their knowledge of the language-but starting from the basics for the less confident, to very advanced for the more confident. There is a good section on OO programing in Python & also one on Tkinter-good examples using this are very hard to find. Every section has example code & then tasks to complete and there are two worked projects at the end. I know this will be a really useful resource.

Was pleased to see the book had simple easy to follow instructions, As it progresses there are exercises and solutions included - this is a great resources as a teacher as you can use these directly with the pupils. The book is comprehensive in content and covers topics that go beyond GCSE computer science. A great book for anyone wishing to learn to program in Python.

This book really works well for me; it builds on basic concepts in a very logical, easy to follow way. The exercises at the end of each chapter enable the reader to reinforce what was learned in the chapter and the solutions provided on the companion website make it easy to check one's solution against the code suggested. I am only halfway through the book and will return to expand this first, partial review when I have completed the whole of the content. My impression so far is entirely positive and I would recommend the book to anyone wishing to gain a solid understanding of Python programming.
