Let's start from the beginning with the putting the machine together. It took me on my own around 1 hour to get it all done. The instructions are easy enough to understand. Here are some pointers that may help you getting it done faster and with less stress. 1, when you screw on the Pedal arms with the long screw, first look at the screwhead if it says RIGHT or LEFT on the screw and screw it ANTI-CLOCKWISE in. Otherwise it will not fit. 2, when you install the computer post, fit the 2 tubes onto the bottom of the computer post first and than lower these into the slots on the main frame. Otherwise there is no way you can attach the computer post. 3, when you put in the Handle bar shaft, don't move it too much around as there is a oil inside the shaft where you put it in, that will end up all over the place if you move the shaft in and out. Just in case have some tissue ready. 4, when you unscrew the screws from the computer, put it flat and hold it still otherwise the flatwashers may end up inside the machine as there is a whole for the cables. Don't wear any white clothing or cloth you don't want to get dirty and be carefull what you touch as the screws left a brown colour on my hands that washed off very easy. Phew, that done and out of the way, let's move on to the usage of this machine. To adjust the height of the seat and the handlebars is childplay and done in a few seconds, which is great if multiple people are going to use the machine with different heights. The seat in itself is hard, slipper and very uncomfortable. Good news is, it is a very large seat, so anyone with a big behind, like mine, will be able to sit comfortable on it, once an additional seatcover has been purchased . Or simply put a towel on it, as it does get very slippery once you start sweating onto it. The tension can be adjusted either with a dial on the machine or on top of that you can loosen or tighten the friction belt as well, if you so desire. All of it explained in very simple steps in the instruction manual. I was playing around with the tension dial only and yes, it does actually work, it does get easier or harder. A very nice option is to pedal backwards, which works out a different muscle group again. The handlebars are always moving together with the pedals, and are not independent. You can either hold on to them and move your arms as you are pedaling or let them swing by themselves. If you decide to hold on to them, it does work out your arms to a certain extend and for sure you are buring more calories by moving more. The computer is a nice little gadget that allows you to either set up set times or calories you want to burn during the exercise and rings the alarm when you reached your goal or you can just simply enjoy the ride and watch the km pass you by. The pulse reader is not too far off and the longer you are holding on to the pulse sensors, the more accurat your pulse becomes. As per usual, the calories you burned ar a guestimate and don't take them serious at all as everybody burns differently depending on height, weight, age and gender. So you can ignore this feature if you please but it is still nice to have as an estiamte. The noise is not too loud. The only ynoise is coming from the tension wheel which is not too disturbing, or too loud. Overall the machine is very sturdy did not wooble or move even when I put it through its paces. The only thing is, that sometimes my feet starting to slip over the front of the padels but maybe it is just me and I have to get used to it and find a different poition or different trainers while working out. Word of advice, really do wear trainers while using this machine. I know it looks so simple and easy to use, but it is not and to avoid injury, put on a pair of trainers. This is an exercise machine and not a toy. Furthermore you have a very very good warmup programm in the exercise booklet, which you can laminate if you wish to do so and use it everytime before you use the machine. VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Keep all the tools that came with the machine in a safe place as the machine is a moving thing and it says even in the manual that from time to time you may have to adjust the screws and nuts and bolts again as they may become loose. So don't throw them away, but keep them safe. Am I happy that I invested nearly £80 in this machine? Yes, it is quiet, sturdy and not of much worse quality than those you can find in the gym.

Just wanted to add a review as the product is very well built, very sturdy but was a bit fiddly to assemble. There are 7 steps on the instructions but some are not well explained. Main issues are that as someone who has built many flat pack items I like to check I have everything before I start. There is a list of contents but it's not clear if a washer is 47 or a bolt is 35 etc etc. The fiddliest part of the assembly was attaching the moving arms to the main body. You have to attach the front before doing the pedals. We just couldn't get anything to align up the other way. Also don't tighten anything until everything is in place. Only once built did we go round and make sure everything was secure. It comes with tools but your own screwdriver and socket set will help you. Other than assembly it looks great and I look forward to adding this to my training programme.

I think the confusion was just on my sude because from the 2 in 1 I thought there must be another excercise type such as a replacable cycle. The tension in it is not the best I must point out. I raised it to the highest but it never felt like I was doing something that would make a difference no matter the time it took. It always felt loose somehow. Especially the handles. I should also point out that it also makes alot of noise so it's not best to watch TV with it. Also, if buying, do not place in the living room near the TV as maybe you wanna cycle but someone else wanna watch the TV and they don't wanna hear the noise of the cycle over the noise of the TV so you just can't excersice which helps your brain make more and more excuses. But... if that doesn't matter to you then I may recommend it.

I received this initially just after Christmas. We fixed it up and within 5 minutes of use a little nut came tumbling out. SHOCK HORROR!! Having read a previous review, our concerns sky rocketed - "what if they don't reply? We should have just brought a slightly more expensive one!" So I emailed XS Sports and received a reply within 24 hours. Even though the unit could be fixed, they sent a replacement base on a day that was suitable to me. Upon opening the box, to my dismay there were a few cosmetic scratches to the paintwork, I relayed this information to JJ, my customer service agent, who, after seeing some photos was more than happy to provide a reasonable discount. I'll update this in a few weeks when I've used the machine a bit.
