Early Years Training

Computer Gym has been an award-winning training provider of computer education to primary and nursery schools for over a decade. We pride ourselves on our excellence in teaching so we can nurture your child's curiosity and encourage a sense of wonder and joy. We aim to familiarise children with computers and then continually increase their knowledge and encourage a life-long love of learning.

We want to give our children a vision of what technology can bring to education and what it can do to equip them for a successful future. They learn IT skills, but just as importantly they learn lifeskills such as problem solving, initiative and social skills from working in pairs etc.

Our approach is to give a 30 minute lesson once a week to children at their school. The class size is a maximum of six nursery children and eight primary school children. A qualified teacher will conduct the lesson using the latest laptops, each with mouse and "easy to see" screen for nursery children.

The following skills are developed in your child:

  • Social skills
  • Academic skills (literacy, numeracy, reasoning, problem solving, science etc)
  • Motor skills (hand-eye coordination)
  • Concentration
  • Vocabulary
  • Visual and auditory discrimination
  • Computer skills
  • Sequencing, sorting, observing, predicting and constructing

What do children gain from attending Computer Gym?
The child clearly gets a head-start in computer skills, but the focus is to help build their self-esteem (computers allow children to progress at their own pace and achieve), self confidence (your child develops feelings of control), and social skills (we pair-up children on each laptop computer to encourage collaborative learning).
