Courses & Subjects

The beauty of delivering computer-based training is that a CD or website for any subject can be readily accessed and provided for a learner. Computer Gym’s forté is to make access to that training easier and facilitate its delivery.

Nevertheless, there are some subject specialisms where our team of highly qualified and experienced tutors can take a more hands-on approach to guiding learners through customised courses or formal accreditations and qualifications:

ITQ
This is a new, unique, flexible training and qualification programme which meets NVQ standards.  It has been devised to allow for different skills to be learned and assessed at different levels – from word processing and spreadsheet skills to bespoke units which focus on specific organisational software.  As far as possible, assessments will take place in the work place whilst employees are doing real tasks at work.  No exams are sat as assessment is carried out by evidence produced in the work place and observations.

Essential Skills
(formerly “basic” skills)

Literacy, Numeracy & English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)
The UK’s adult workforce is in the bottom three Western nations in terms of skills levels. The starting point is to brush-up basic English and Maths – and this isn’t just for new migrants!
Computer Gym is one of the best providers of such assessment, training and end testing in the UK.
Additionally literacy and numeracy can be readily contextualised to an individual’s job or interests and embedded into other vocational training.
We offer Entry Level 1, 2 & 3 and Level 1 and 2 assessment and training both paper and computer-based.

Customer Service
A competency-based programme designed to reflect the most up to date thinking on Customer Service. The qualification gives the candidate formal recognition of their performance in the workplace and assesses the knowledge and understanding of the key areas of Customer Service. The programme will develop new skills increasing personal growth and improve working practice.
The Customer Service NVQ Level 2 is intended for those people who work within the regulations of the organisation to support customer service with both internal and external customers. They will have limited opportunity to influence what happens at work.

Environment & Sustainability
A range of training is provided by us from advanced courses such as National Vocational Qualifications in Environmental Management (NVQ), and Environmental Practitioner to less involved courses for employee environmental awareness.

Entry to Employment (e2e)

Information, Advice and
Guidance (IAG)

  e2e
We work to get people job ready and ensure they have the right skills to gain employment in a specific area or with a particular employer. This includes CV-writing, interview skills, job application letter-writing, understanding job ads etc. They can embed improved literacy and ICT skills, as well as employer-specific requirements.

IAG
Computer Gym works closely with local organisations in order to provide Information, Advice and Guidance for Adults: high quality, free advice and information on learning and work opportunities, including information on courses, sources of funding, career change, job hunting, returning to work, graduate opportunities, child care and much more. Often this is conducted in association with other courses that we are delivering and aims to facilitate progression for that learner to really help ensure that the positive changes we have helped make to their life can be continued.

Life in the UK

The Life in the UK Test has been introduced by the UK government to ensure immigrants know what they should to be a British Citizen and possess a sufficient level of English. Studying for and taking the test will give learners the practical knowledge they need to live in this country and to take part in society.
The test contains 24 questions on life in the United Kingdom and will last for 45 minutes. It's based on chapters 2, 3 and 4 of the handbook 'Life in the United Kingdom: A Journey to Citizenship'. Tests are held at our Esher e-testing centre.
